What to expect when you visit us for the first time

Keystone Chiropractic uses state-of-the-art technology in assessing each practice member to get an exact location of  dysfunction  which result in “dis-ease” of an optimum running body.

At Keystone Chiropractic our examinations are geared toward detection and correction of the vertebral SUBLUXATION. Subluxations are slight dislocations of the vertebrae in your spine. When your spine is subluxated, your nervous system is directly affected. You may or may not have symptoms depending on the time, nature, and severity of the subluxation. As a new practice member, you can expect to have the highest quality of care and diagnosis. By using a two-day “First Visit”, this allows the Doctor to fully assess your findings before delivering your life-altering adjustment!

Step One

All new practice members are requested to fill out the new practice member health application form as completely as possible.

Step Two
Please read and sign all other forms.

Step Three
After all paper work is completed an office tour is given to show where everything is so you feel at home in our office.

Step Four
A one-on-one consultation will be conducted to discuss your health issues and goals, uncover the layers of past damage/trauma and to help determine the cause of your health issues.

Step Five
The Specific Scientific Chiropractic Assessment: Here’s what to expect.

A comprehensive chiropractic evaluation and Neurological Diagnostic Testing will be performed to further determine the cause of your health problems using state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment.

You may be asked to:
Bend forward, sideways, or backwards – Misaligned spinal vertebrae can be revealed during this exercise.
Perform specific orthopedic tests to determine the exact components involved in your health problems.
Grip Test – Your grip strength is vital for showing signs of muscular or nerve damage.
Gait Analysis – Evaluating your gait helps to determine if you have a normal walking pattern. Abnormalities in the balance and alignment within your pelvis and spine can be seen during this assessment.
Postural Evaluation – Posture abnormalities will reveal whether or not you have misalignments within spinal column.
These exercises will provide vital information regarding your motor skills, balance, and gait, leading the doctor to a better understanding of your current state of health. These tests also help determine your range of motion, muscle tone and strength, and overall integrity of your nervous system.

Next, a short physical assessment will be performed utilizing both motion and static palpation to explore the alignment of your spine and other structures, as well as provide information on any stimuli that may cause pain or discomfort.

Step Six

The doctor will advise you if additional tests are needed including any Chiropractic Postural Specific X-rays.

Step Seven

Walk through of your first adjustment followed by your first adjustment.

Your First Adjustment
All new practice members receive fewer adjustments at a more gentle force for their first adjustment. The purpose for this is to determine how your body will respond to the adjustments before we begin more aggressive care. Once we observe that your body is not sensitive to the adjustments we will increase the number of regions adjusted and the amount of force we set on the instrument.

Don’t be discouraged if you do not notice immediate, lasting improvement from this first adjustment. It likely took years for your body to get into the condition that it is in right now, and it will take time and repetition of care to reverse the effects of years of stress and degeneration on the joints, muscles and nerves of the spine.

In some cases the joints we adjust may become sore after the first treatments. This occurs because of irritation of chronically inflamed joints or nerves. If this happens to you, the symptoms are temporary much like the initial soreness that a person might have after starting a new exercise program. The best way to reduce this soreness is to place an icepack on the painful area for 15-20 minutes (never longer than 20 minutes, do not use heat, repeat icing as needed). This “tonal” chiropractic technique actually works with your body’s natural movement and motion to help your body naturally correct the restricted and misaligned segments in your spine and pelvis. Because of this we encourage all new practice members to make time to dedicate to regular exercise while they are under care. Simply walking for 15-20 minutes each day can make a huge difference in the results you will see during your care.

Step Eight
Report of Findings (By appointment Only.)

This is by far your most IMPORTANT visit in our office! Dr. Tim will deliver a short, educational talk in which he will explain Keystone Chiropractic care which you will be educated on your specific findings, learn how to read your x-rays and also receive a packet with details about your specific care. You will also lean what specific scientific adjustments will do to increase your health.

Dr. Tim may recommend that you follow a program of care over several months and many treatments. Our goal with this approach to chiropractic care is to create lasting change and correction rather than just pain or symptom relief.

At this appointment we will go over your specific care plan, how many visits that looks like, as well as what that looks like financially and payment options.

Here are a few preparation tips for the your second visit:

Plan approximately for 60 minutes
If possible, please bring a spouse, family member, or a friend so that they can be a part of your care.
Afterwards, Dr. Tim will answer any questions you might have regarding your health or the health of your loved ones.
